Story
I am going to run my first ever marathon in memory of my uncle Ernie who sadly passed away earlier this year. The Beatson charity was very close to his heart. He was always the first to put his hand in his pocket (not a Macpherson trait may I add) when it came to donating to this remarkable charity.
Unfortunately it is close to far to many families hearts. I know the great work that gets carried out there and every penny helps. Last year Rona helped raise over £3000 towards the Beatson charity, which is an unbelievable amount. Everyones generosity is much appreciated.
I'd also like to promote men's health awareness, in particular testicular cancer. Us guys are useless at talking about our health, especially when it comes to our testicles!! So if any guys are reading this and haven't checked yourself, then please do. Or if you've felt anything a little strange down below, don't be shy in going to the doctors and getting it seen to. Better safe than sorry.
26.2 miles is going to be tough! If I can find the fight, courage and dedication that Ernie showed throughout his whole life, then I will be fine. I will be thinking of him the whole way round and I know for a fact he'll be on my shoulder every step of the way, screaming 'C'mon Macca boy, up a gear!' just like he used to shout at the shinty every Saturday.
From myself and all the Macpherson family, Thank you for reading my story
