Story

Over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May I will be taking part in the LDWA (Long Distance Walkers Association ) annual  100 mile walk "The Dorset 100". At 10 am on Saturday 28th May myself and another 549 entrants will set off anti clockwise from  Wey Valley school in Dorset  . (Map of route in pictures). There will be 14 checkpoints and you cannot stay at one checkpoint more than 2 hours or you are timed out. I will have a strict 48 hrs to complete.  This will be my third event having completed the South Wales event in 2014 and then in Lancashire last year. My best time was in Lancashire when I completed in lovely weather in 42 hours and 13 minutes. Amazingly no blisters after 100 miles walking non stop. I must be back at the finish at Wey School no later than 10 am on Monday 30th May . The toughest part is two sunsets and 2 sunrises going without sleep for 2 days and constant physical exertion. . This year I will be again raising funds and  awareness for Greyhound Rescue West of England,  a charity really close to my heart for which I am extremely proud to have been a volunteer for the last 9 years. I also with my wife Sharon have 2 rescue Greyhounds Roo and Elli. My inspiration though will always be my Fawn Greyhound Heidi who was taken suddenly from us with illness in 2012. This may well be my last 100 challenge for the near future, it has been a extremeley hard journey to even complete one let alone two however this is in GRWE's backyard and I cannot think of a better way to sign off especially in the Charities 20th Birthday year. All funds and awareness raised can make such a difference, please visit

to see the great work that the charity carries out , not only for the last 20 years , but hopefully for many more to come.
