Story
As you may already know, I recently suffered a serious diving bend after 20+ years of trouble free diving (well in those 20 years I had a few scrapes here and there along the way but nothing serious 😉).
I was treated by the wonderful DDRC at Plymouth – a charity specialising in hyperbaric treatment, the only way of treating a diving bend.
To celebrate that due to the great care I received I am now almost fully recovered and can still walk and run – I would like to raise funds for DDRC by doing a sponsored run.
I am therefore taking part in Equinox 24 (a 24 hour relay race) on the weekend of 23/24th September and fingers crossed will be able to add 20K to the team total distance. The farthest I have ever run is 10K. I am optimistic (!) my slightly weak right leg will hold up and even if it doesn’t I’ll aim to drag myself round.
Please consider sponsoring me. Even if you’re not a diver DDRC do great work developing and using hyperbaric treatments to help other patients.
During my treatment I shared a chamber with patients who were being treated for tissue damage following radiotherapy and wounds that wouldn’t heal. DDRC are also on call 24/7 to give emergency treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning and gas embolisms.
DDRC do a fantastic job!
Thank you!
