Becoming a parent changes your perspective on everything. You realise just how precious life is. Two years ago I was pregnant with my daughter Betsy. It was an exciting time for me and my husband Lee. At the same time, my friends Zoe and Richard were also pregnant and we shared many happy conversations about how our lives would change once we become parents. Sadly for my friends the birth of their son Stanley was a mixture of happiness and sadness as Stanley was born with SEDC, and at just five months old Stanley was admitted to the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital and after many attempts to save his life, he sadly passed away.

"My wife and I lost our son Stanley on 26th November 2010. Stanley was 5 months old and during his short life he spent 3 weeks in Great Ormond Street Hospital where they treated him for RSV. It is a common germ that causes lung and airway infections in infants and young children, that was complicated with Stanley's condition, SEDC.

Over this time we were overwhelmed with not just the professionalism of the many nurses, doctors and consultants treating Stanley, but the emotional support that they also offered to Zoe and myself. Donating to this amazing hospital will help it to continue its fantastic service in treating poorly children. Children are too innocent to be as poorly as some I witnessed during Stanley's time there. Donating even a small amount to this worthwhile cause, will help GOSH to treat and support families in the future."
