HOW YOU CAN HELP:  This 'Name the Orangutan' initiative invites our friends and colleagues to pledge £2 minimum and to put forward suggestions for a name for this awesome mascot (pictured). Closing date Friday 29 April at 4.30pm.  He has been  kindly donated by the charity to help showcase our fundraising activities this year. Winner of the chosen name receives a mini version of the orangutan. (See gallery)

What we are doing and why

All year we will be raising funds for our nominated charity ORANGUTAN PROTECTION FOUNDATION to help raise  funds to support and rehabilitate orangutans who have become casualties of the 'slash and burn' that is taking place in Borneo in order to produce palm oil, which is creating a wider environmental problem. 

Many orangutans are injured or have become orphaned, and it is estimated that if nothing is done, that orangutans will become extinct in this part of the world within 10 years.
