Story

Pedal to the Principality is a fundraising cycle ride from DMRC Stanford Hall to The Principality of Monaco in commencing 01 Apr 2022. Up to 17 riders will cycle 909 miles, led by former Olympic cyclist Bryan Steel.

I have personally benefitted from this benevolent fund over 20 years ago when I was injured and sadly lost my career due to my injures. I was on a training exercise where a vehicle rolled over onto 3 of us. I was the only lucky survivor that day, which is life changing on its own, but to lose your dream career due to the injures as well was extremely tough. This in mind, I still know I am the lucky one. RIP Adie and Marty.

This challenge is going to a physical test me from my injures which I sustained. I had a hip rebuild in 2000, full hip replacement in 2001, this got infected and replaced again in 2003. 18+ years insitu and not reallylooked at it all the time, it is getting close to the next surgery. Something I have always been keen to put off, but discomfort levels are increasing gradually.

Just because we are not in high tempo conflict, it sadly doesn't mean that soldiers aren't getting life changing injures whilst training. This charity is needing continuing support, so the next injured soldier can get help. Plus we know this may change dramatically over night and large numbers soldiers will need help.

I am lucky to ride on this cycle ride to show support and would love for you to support me and the charity please.

About the charity

The DMRC Benevolent Fund purchases special goods and services for patients' rehabilitation, beyond that which is provided by the public purse. We create opportunities for patients to engage in social activities, which lets them forget about their injuries and rehabilitation for a few hours.
