In memory of James Barrett

Story

James "Jimmy" Barrett was 44 years old when he took his life on January 4th, 2018 after battling depression and substance abuse for most of his adult life.

James hails from Kalispell, Mt. where he spent his childhood and early adult years surrounded by family and friends.  He helped his father with the family business, enjoyed snowboarding at Whitefish, and loved wake boarding on Flathead lake.  James was a talented tennis player and was an avid fan of soccer.  He visited the Pendelton Round-Up in Portland, Oregon almost annually as it was one of his favorite vacation spots.

James lived in many places in his adult life, the majority of which was spent in Columbus, Ohio where he enjoyed playing softball with his team, the GRIZZ, and was incredibly proud of his GSWS World Series of softball win with his team in 2015.

James had recently moved to Atlanta, Georgia to begin a new and yet rekindled adventure with me in hopes of building a life together after having spent many years apart.  We met in 2006 but neither of us was ready or capable of being in a relationship, but the love we shared was deep and our connection unquestionable.  James had hoped to truly explore our potential together as we forged ahead in life.  He and I were both very hopeful and excited as we looked ahead.

James always found the good in everyone he met and was incredibly humble despite his many gifts.  His smile could light up a room, his laugh was unforgettably unique and his playful attitude endearing to everyone that knew him.  James was passionate about his friends, loved his family especially his mother Shirley, and was recently excited to find out he had become an Uncle again, twice.

James had dreams of owning his own business, adopting children and starting a family.

James "Jimmy" you will never be forgotten!  You will live on in our hearts and in our memories.

Rest in peace brother, son, Uncle, friend and love of my life!
