Story

Hi All,

My name is Emma, I have had a love for Twycross Zoo ever since I was a little girl. It means so much to me so I wanted to do something for them during these unprecedented times.

I have been on a personal fitness journey for a while now and after doing some fundraising during the first lockdown last year, I have decided that I will do it again.

I have never ever been much of a runner, I have actually hated running all my life (34yrs of it). I can dance all night or play football for 90mins, but only run for around 10minutes before feeling like I might pass out.

Therefore, in my madness/wisdom (insert eye roll) I have decided to pledge to run between 2-10km per day for the rest of lockdown. Not walk or cycle but RUN it 🤦‍♀️. I have selected this distance because in the wild chimpanzees travel between 2-10km per day so I thought hey why not??

I will keep you updated with my journey 💪🏃‍♀️💪🏃‍♀️

Twycross Zoo has been in the heart of conservation for over 57 years, and opened to the public on the 26th May 1963 from humble beginnings. The brain child of Molly Badham and Nathalie Evans, coupled with their intense love of primates, Twycross Zoo was founded to fulfil their dream of protecting primates and set standards which were followed by zoos across the world for years to come.Little did they know back then that they'd be responsible for launching an organisation that has catapulted into one of the UK's leading science zoos.Today, Twycross Zoo is recognised across the globe for award-winning welfare, research, education and the conservation of endangered species.
