http://www.runfatboyrun.orgLove Running : The Bristol 10k 2010Well we know I can finish...just. But this year it's a whole different ball game (albeit not involving a ball).
I've joined up with those pesky red shirts I met last year and the plan is to raise over £100’000 between all the runners.
Why, why would you put yourself through that? Again!
Well I’m glad you asked!
We’re doing it for fun, we’re doing it for great causes, and we’re doing it because we want to make a difference.
The fun: Well what isn’t there to love about achy muscles!
The causes:World Vision in Zimbabwe.
We feel this to be a situation of extreme urgency, and want to do something that will literally save lives - particularly those of children - in the grip of an ongoing cholera epidemic and unprecedented famine, suffering and misery.
Stop the Traffik
It is estimated that there are 12.3 million people in forced labour worldwide, of which 2.4 million are the result of human trafficking. That's slavery, to you and me.
Three local Bristol charities:
St Peters Hospice
The Noise
Crisis Centre
The making a difference bit:550 odd people (that’s around 550, not 550 weirdos...well maybe) all running together with one ultimate aim; to make a difference in the world around them. Each one of us will do our bit, adding up to a much greater effort than we could individually manage, leading to a tangible difference for the better in the world. The great thing is that you can be part of it too; simply by donating you will be making a difference in the world around you. Close to home as well as far away, because out of sight doesn’t have to mean out of mind.
