Well, the photo above was taken last year after the Clevedon Long Swim, an annual event running since 1928 and 1 mile (ish depending on how straight you swim!) in length. As you can tell from my smile I enjoyed the challenge and as you know I am always up for one of those!

The Bantham Swoosh Facebook page innocently popped up a few days ago. This is a 6km or, in old money, 4 mile swim down the river Avon from Aveton Gifford to Bantham beach in South Devon (www.outdoorswimmingsociety.com/bantham-swoosh-swim) on the 24th June 2017. When I found out what the 'Swoosh' part was - being swept along at the end of the swim 4 times your normal speed I was sold and entered straight away! The other thing that convinced me was the opportunity to raise funds for Level Water who teach disabled children to swim. Through my pool, lake & sea swimming I have seen how being in the water really makes people feel better, both physically & mentally and believe that everyone, especially children, should be given the opportunity to learn to swim. It is a life skill that should be accessible to all and Level Water is helping to achieve this. Please have a look at the Level Water website (www.levelwater.org) if you'd like to know a bit more.

I will be so chuffed if you can donate to this great cause, no matter how much or little and please don't feel you need to leave your name - an anonymous donation is just as appreciated.

I'll try to post a few updates on how the swim training is going - my longest ever swim to date has been 120 lengths of the pool / 12 lengths of Clevedon Marine Lake which is 3km so I have a bit of work to do.......
