Story
Dear all,
Recently Conor and I decided to run "La Saintélyon" in France, which is an epic ultra-marathon through the wintery night of my birthday starting in St Etienne and finishing in Lyon. The race starts at 11:40 pm on the 2nd of December. The full distance is 72km, with 1730m + of ascent. We hope it will take us no longer than 10 hours.
Some of you might wonder why we decided to take on this challenge, and why we picked a night race in the middle of winter to do so? Firstly, we both enjoy the physical and mental endurance which comes with such a race.
Secondly, I am passionate to make this run into a meaningful challenge. In recent years I have lost both my grandparents to brain tumours. Some of you will remember donating to the same cause in 2014, when I ran my first half-marathon. This year, I am raising the bar, running more than 3 times the first race I ever entered.
I hope to raise as much money as is possible to contribute to the research and funds needed to cure such diseases at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queensquare, London.
I will regularly update this page if you are interested in tracking our preparation for the ultra.
