Story

I want to run my first every 10k and in the process raise some money for The Washing Machine Project Foundation.

The Washing Machine Project Foundation:

The Washing Machine Project Foundation are a small charity who have developed an innovative, off-grid solution to help people in hard-hit communities around the world to wash their clothes.

70% of the world’s population do not have access to a washing machine - meaning people (usually women and children) spend over 20 hours a week washing clothing.  The Washing Machine Project have created a manual washing machine that reduces the amount of time for washing "a load" from 2 hours to 30 minutes!

My Running Journey:

I started couch to 5k back in late March 2021 - I am not a natural runner, I disliked PE at school and am ashamed to say didn't make time for exercise in my busy schedule as an adult!

I have completed the couch to 5k programme in June-2021 with some excellent coaching and support from some wonderful people (Thanks Harborough Social Runners c25k group and coaches and my wonderful family who've supported the schedule!!)...and am now challenging myself to progress from 5km to 10km.

On Sunday 5th September I completed my 10km challenge at Sherwood Pines.  It was an undulating course (very hilly in places in my opinion!!) with a mix of terrain under foot.  The day was warm and the sun was shining.
