We work with children and young people to equip them to become world changers

Story

3 years ago Emily was told she should never ride a bike again, after a series of near misses and an altercation with a parked car. She was devastated – she loved cycling, but being diagnosed with epilepsy and suffering multiple seizures each day she thought her cycling days were over. Last year she received pioneering new treatment to control her condition which involved an operation, and having the equivalent of a ‘pacemaker’ fitted that helps to regulate brain activity to control her epilepsy. In July she will take on the challenge to cycle 100 miles, from Liverpool to Chester and back again to raise funds for Ykids and her work with Children and young people in Bootle.

Emily is a children’s worker at Ykids children’s charity which works to make a difference in the lives of children living in some of the UK’s most deprived communities. Ykids offers activities, clubs, events and projects that raise self-esteem, teach skills and create a place to belong. From schools work and mentoring programmes to community garden and their own Bee Hives, Ykids has a creative approach to giving young people the best chances and opportunities in life.

She is hoping to raise £1000 to help give 30 young people a life changing opportunity by taking them on a residential this summer so please support her.

‘We are so proud of Emily, she is an inspiration not only to the children she works with but also to all the staff and volunteers here at Ykids. She lets nothing hold her back – ‘can’t ‘, is not in her vocabulary.’ Claire Ykids CEO

Emily’s training has kicked off in earnest so please help her to make a difference by donating on her Just giving page.
