Story
As many of you will know I took up swimming when my injured knees made it impossible to participate in other sports. The boredom of ploughing up and down has been tempered by various challenges over the years and many fabulous swimming holidays with friends and family. To date my biggest challenges have been the Cornwall Big Swim from Port Quin to Port Isaac, and the Hellespont Europe to Asia across the Bosphorus. I have never swum 10k and will definitely be at the limits of my capabilities, but if I can think of the raising of money for this good cause during the last 3k it might just get me across the line!
Every child should have a fair start in sport. Level Water gives this to children with disabilities by teaching them to swim. For children who can’t access group swimming lessons, Level Water provide a year of one-to-one lessons to teach them the basics. They then help the children integrate successfully and progress on to competitive clubs. Without their work, most disabled children will find it hard to learn to swim.
Level Water is currently working at 50 sites across the country and teaching 500 children a week. With help they can continue to grow to new towns and cities, giving every disabled child a fair start in sport.
