Story
Hi there!,
We are doing the 2010 Great Eastern Half Marathon (team ASBAH - association of spina bifida and hydrocephalus) for a very special brave little boy - our Liam!
From the 20 week scan we knew Liam would be born with hydrocephalus due to a cyst blocking his brain stem. Liam was always very much loved and wanted and despite a bleak prognosis he came into the world at 34 weeks term shouting and full of life. Liam has had 4 lots of brain surgery and now wears a brain shunt which he will be reliant upon for the rest of his life. Despite everything Liam is making fantastic progress. We have to say a massive thank you to all the staff at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham and everyone else who has worked with us to support and care for Liam - we are so grateful. He is amazing and our little miracle!
Hydrocephalus can cause so many problems and comes with massive uncertainty about the future. Everyone who suffers from hydrocephalus is special and unique.
We want to raise awareness and support anyone with hydrocephalus and their familes.
Thank you!
Emma (Liams' Mum), Francis (Liam's Dad) and Dale (Dad's best mate)
