Story
16 years ago, I decided I wanted to run the London Marathon. Since then, I've entered (and failed) in the ballot nearly every year. I've got into running, run four other marathons, walked several more (plus a few ultra-marathons), TOTALLY stopped running, and put on **unintelligible** amount of weight. But...2024 IS THE YEAR.
(As many of you will know, 2023 became...pretty terrible, for me and my family. I'm very lucky that the wonderful Chance for Childhood have allowed me to carry over my place to 2024, so here goes. My dad was never entirely clear on the purpose of running marathons, but he was clear on the value of education, and that's a big part of what CfC do. So in 2024, I WILL be running/crawling/sobbing to the finish line, in an activity he probably would have questioned but for a cause of which he would approve.)
The important part: Chance for Childhood is a small charity and every donation genuinely makes a difference. Here's what they say:
Childhood shouldn’t be spent on the streets, in a war zone or imprisoned and isolated at home. With the help of our donors and supporters, we protect children from the devastating consequences of extreme poverty, conflict and disability. Together we can rebuild more young lives for a better future.
