Story
Hello everyone!
Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to visit this page and learn a little more about my story. For those who know me, you will understand how out of my comfort zone this fundraiser will be for me!
More than ever, we have all learned not to take life and its little pleasures for granted and to be thankful for the people we have around us!
My auntie and role model Edel was a fit and healthy 43-year-old when diagnosed with 2 forms of this terrible disease that is Leukaemia. After spending over a year in St James's Hospital Dublin, Edel successfully fought this disease and slowly but surely started to rebuild her body, mind and life!
We wouldn't have her with us today if it wasn't for the wonderful doctors and nurses of St James's Hospital and the support and research of The Leukaemia Trust.
Every 3 minutes in Ireland someone gets a cancer diagnosis. Every hour someone dies from cancer. So now more than ever I want to do this fundraiser!
Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust Ireland is a charity specifically dedicated to supporting people in Ireland who have Leukemia, Lymphoma or Myeloma and have had or may need a stem cell transplant.
They provide direct support for patients and their relatives – especially recognising the support needed for those coming from outside Dublin. They also support the running of the Haematology Department in St James’s Hospital, Dublin, in the National Allogeneic Transplant Center. It is the only location where an adult can receive a sibling or matched unrelated donor stem cell transplant. (https://www.bonemarrowtrust.ie/our-impact)
It would mean the world to us to receive any donations no matter how small and please follow our Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emmas400km_in1month/for daily updates on how I will run, walk and cycle my way to 400km in one month! (July 1st - July 31st!)
Thank you so much for all your support, messages and donations, please do feel free to share this page and our story on your socials!
Sending you a big virtual hug! Emma x
