Story
Earlier this year, at Enduroman in the New Forest, I managed my first ultra distance run, covering just over 42 miles. Once the pain had subsided and the rose-tinted glasses went back on, I decided that it'd be really good fun to enter Equinox 24 in September as a solo runner and see how many laps of the 10km loop I could complete in 24 hours. I've got a target of at least 100km, but ideally I'd like to go further. It's going to be so much fun!.
As this is going to be a fairly drastic step up for me, and it's been a while since I've tried to get any money from people for charity, I've decided to make my suffering count and raise some much needed funds for Oldham Mountain Rescue Team. So far this year they've been busy assisting the emergency services with the Beast From The East, slightly less beastly Not Quite The Beast From The East, and most recently doing long shifts up on the moors helping the fire service and armed forces with the fires. As a group consisting entirely of volunteers, ready and willing to put themselves at risk to help anyone in trouble, and relying entirely on voluntary contributions, these guys and girls are an incredibly worthy cause, and the busy year so far has put increased strain on their funds and increased the wear and tear on their vehicles and kit.
Any and all donations very much welcomed and appreciated, and I promise you I'll make it worthwhile by suffering...
