Story
In a moment of madness, just after an operation to remove a tumor from my chest I was watching the the Great North Run on the TV in the comfort of my own home. It was showing all these amazing people who were running to raise money for various charitys I decided that in order to put something back and to set myself a target I would enter the next run.
Deciding on a charity was not difficult as my 68 year old Mum has been blind now for 3 years. This has shown me how difficult it is to come to terms with losing your sight, my mum often says "she would have rather have lost her arms and legs than her sight" Being visualy impared makes the most simple tasks like making your self a hot drink a difficult, frightening and risky thing to do and it robs you of your independance and confidence.
The Guide dogs for the blind do an amazing job
