We support remote communities in Malawi to improve health, education & livelihoods

Story

Chris Carter and Chris Pender from Affinity Workforce's sister company, CER Education, are walking the length of Hadrian’s Wall over 4 days in May.

The challenge will cover over 86 miles along the ancient Roman wall and will consist of literally Marathon days of trekking, camping overnight, and a net climb of 1300 metres. The goal is to walk from Coast to Coast in hopes of raising money for TEMWA, a UK-based charitable organisation offering sustainability support to people in Malawi

AWS has partnered with TEMWA to not only offset our carbon footprint by planting trees in Malawi but also to support on-going education-based projects so that Primary and Secondary aged children can more easily and safely access the education
they need and deserve

Founded in 2003, Temwa is a Bristol based charity whose mission is to develop self-sufficient communities in hard-to-reach areas of northern Malawi – itself the third poorest country in the world. We serve the communities of Nkhata Bay North, a very remote area and home to around 55,000 people. Our aim is to provide an infrastructure to support families in this region facing financial and humanitarian hardship. We accomplish this by implementing programmes in health, education, agriculture and forestry. All of our projects are community-driven meaning that local communities are actively involved in the design and implementation of the projects. We deliver our programmes by our in-country Temwa team, all of them nationals with many from the local area, as such they have a deep local and operational knowledge of the needs of Nkhata Bay North.
