Story
Hello!
I am actually going to run the London Marathon this year! I can't quite believe it! I've always wanted to do it since seeing my Dad run it many times in the 80's and as I will turn 40 one month before the marathon, it seems a good way to mark the occasion!
I am a slow runner - I don't think Paula Radcliffe or Mo Farah need be worried! I started running in August 2014 for just 90 seconds at a time..... and that nearly killed me. But, thanks to lots of great support and encouragement from family and friends, I ran the London 10k, Birmingham Half Marathon and Telford 10k last year. I have the Stafford Half Marathon in March this year, so there is no slacking off in the training!
I was absolutely delighted to be awarded one of the PKD Charity's two places in the marathon in their ballot and I shall be running for everyone in the UK affected by Polycystic Kidney Disease. Its the most common inherited condition in the world, with around 70,000 people affected in the UK. This run is for everyone affected by the disease, for which there is no cure, and for all their families and carers.
For those of you that live in the UK, I am holding a Spring Ball to raise funds for PKD on 5th March 2016 at Tern Hill Hall, Nr Market Drayton, Shropshire TF9 3PU. Tickets are £32 including 3 course meal and dancing to a fabulous live band! I would love you to come along and support me so please email me - estherwright2@hotmail.com for more details, or have a look at the flyer on this page.
