We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. As many of you know I'm not one to shy away from a challenge.  Some of you also know that I am also a planner.  Since I was a wee girl running around in my school sports shorts I've been planning on running the London marathon one day!  But this year I have a real reason to bust a gut training in the Australian summer (hot hot hot!!!) in order to push myself around 42 km (or 26 miles) of the beautiful city that is London - I am not only trying to fulfil my lifelong ambition but I am also going to try and do it whilst raising money for research into Alzheimer's and Dementia.  These are cruel diseases which effect so many of us in one way or another.  Like many others my family has unfortunately been directly affected by dementia and Alzheimer's.  My Uncle Robbie died of vascular dementia.  It's distressing for the individual themselves but it is also heart breaking for the family caring for the individual.  BUT through on-going research into for instance the benefits of early intervention and exercise and nutrition, the effects of these diseases can be minimised.  Please support me to raise funds for much needed research so that we can together help towards reducing the risk of these diseases and hopefully one day finding a cure for them.  All contributions would be greatly appreciated. In the mean time I'm preparing my Scottish body for the onslaught of training in the Australian summer.... it fills me with dread!!!Many thanks!
