This is what happens when old blokes get together in the New Year to discuss their various mid-life crisis. A few whiskies later and we are all signed up to do something we are clearly not capable of.

The Three Peaks Challenges is to get up Ben Nevis (Scotland), Scafell (England) and Snowdon (Wales), the three highest peaks in their respective countries, all within 24 hours (and as a team). This entails driving the length of the UK, three big climbs (at least one at night) and a diet of energy gels. Points are deducted for changes of underwear.

I am raising money for MCAI as part of a deliberate effort to support a small international charity doing great work abroad. When times get tough it is too easy to say 'charity begins at home', and this charity is doing great work to improve the life of mothers and infants in some of the most deprived areas of the world.
