This campaign is taking Abby's Heroes to new heights, as this group take on the 3 highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hrs. The challenge is to climb and descend 11,000ft (3408m) with little or no sleep, travelling between in a minibus!

Story

We are the Fantastic Four - Ellie, Kerry, Lucy and Roxanne!  A group of forty-something(!!) year old friends about to embark on an amazing yet crazy challenge.

In 2019, we decided to take on a huge physical and mental test  by climbing the UKs highest mountains (the 3 peaks) in just 24 hours!  Fast forward a couple of years (thanks to a global pandemic) and this is now a reality!  On Friday 20th May we will be setting out at 5pm to climb Ben Nevis, we then travel via minibus to Scafell Pike and begin our climb in the early hours of the morning!  Finally (after another little drive in the minibus) we finish by climbing Snowdon and all before 5pm on Saturday 21st May!!

Why have we chosen to do this crazy challenge???? Well that's simple!!  It's to help raise money to support the fantastic charity Abby's Heroes.  This charity support families from across the South Coast when their children have been diagnosed with cancer and are being treated at University Hospital Southampton on either the Piam Brown ward or the Teenage and Young Adult Unit. They offer families financial grants, practical support and funds to make cherished family memories.  Abby's Heroes also provide the Piam Brown ward with 2 evening meals and a lunch every week, as well as topping up the emergency snack box on the ward. Every single family is handed a welfare pack at the beginning of their time on the ward, which has vouchers for the food outlets within the hospital, as there is no food provision for parents whilst on the ward. The packs also includes car parking vouchers. They also fund a Clinical Psychologist for siblings and their projects for the coming year will be to fund a play therapist and a family support worker for the ward.

During the pandemic Abby's Heroes continued to provide help and support to those families on the Piam Brown ward.  This was despite their donations dropping a significant amount as fund raising efforts like this challenge all but stopped.

The Fantastic Four have seen first hand what a difference the work that Abby's Heroes do, can make to a family.  They are a life line to the parents and siblings, ensuring they can spend time with their children without having to worry about everyday life, such as eating!

We are hoping to raise as much money as we possibly can for the charity and appreciate any donation that you can give.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Ellie, Kerry, Lucy and Roxanne xxxx
