I am passionate about Eye Health - NOT RUNNING and that's why I have persuaded my husband to run the Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday 13th October 2019 for VISTA!

Vista is the leading local sight loss charity in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It is their aim to promote eye health in order to prevent sight loss and reduce the impact of sight loss. Vista support children and adults with sight loss, by providing specialist leisure activities, music therapy and professional rehabilitation support in both the home and the community.

As a locum Optometrist, I have the privilege to work across a number of Independent and Mainstream opticians; treating, diagnosing and referring hundreds of patients. Losing your sight can be very frightening and most patients do not know who to turn to for support. However, Vista is there, offering a wide range of services to enable people to regain their independence and live fulfilling lives.

The training and preparation for this half marathon is incredibly challenging but knowing the impact this amazing charity has on the quality of people’s lives, makes it worthwhile.
