KPMG is partnering with the Alzheimer’s Society to organise the first ever KPMG-wide cycle challenge across all our offices in the .

The event will span the breadth and length of the  stopping at each office along the way. There are two routes; one starting in and the other in . The two routes will meet in Hertford for the final leg cycling into , for a Big Blue Bike Ride finale at .

Mandy and I have agreed to cycle 80 miles from Newcastle to Harrogate on 1 June (and may even do the 80 mile leg from Berwick to Newcastle the day before if we can get fit enough!)

This is a big challenge for a very worthwhile cause and one that is very close to my heart as my nanna sadly passed away last year having sufferred from Alzheimers for a long, long time.  I can honestly say that it is heartbreaking to see someone get lost in this desease and each time you see them wonder whether they will remember you and for how long, 5 minutes, half an hour?  My nanna's illness had a massive impact on not just her but the whole of my family who took it in turns to make sure she was okay and well cared for.  Although she passed away last year, we would all agree we lost her a long long time ago.  

This really is a worthwhile cause and a big personal challenge for Mandy and I so we would appreciate your sponsorship no matter how large or small.
