Story

This year at Forterra Building Products our corporate charity is MIND. Throughout the year we will have a variety of events for all our colleagues to get involved in. However, we do have a few ‘extra’ ordinary people who like a challenge and supported by Forterra will be doing the 500mile Cahors Cycle challenge.

We have entered two teams into the 2022 Cahors Challenge. The event returns after a two-year break and starts on Thursday 29th September under the historic walls of the maritime city of St Malo. We will then head down through parts of Normandy to Angers. On day 2 we will follow the Loire to the Creuse river valley stopping on night 2 south of Limoges. Finally, the last 500 miles on day 3 are heading south passing Rocamadour and finishing in Cahors.

Team 1 consists of Nick Clark (Contracts and Logistics Manager),Marc Taylor (Process Development Lead), Steve Denty (Guest Rider - Rolls Royce), Lee Emmonds (Brickyard Operative, Kirton)

Team 2 consists of Ian Holmes (Business Support Manager), Andrew Groves (Guest Rider - Harris Lamb), David Rose (Group Investor Relations & Corporate Finance Manager), Michael Campbell
(Project Surveyor)

50% of our fundraising will go to our corporate charity MIND with the remaining half being split between Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and NHS Charities Together. We are therefore seeking your support as part of the team’s fundraising efforts for these worthy causes.

The company and the team members will be funding the costs of the event so that all donations will reach the nominated charities. The company has also agreed to charity match up to £500 per team member.

About the charity

For 25 years, we have organised cycle events, mainly in Europe. We have raised a huge £4,378,361 mainly for cancer, heart and other medical research. We pride ourselves that EVERY PENNY that has been raised has been paid to charity - our participants paying the full fees for event entry themselves.
