Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 28 June 2010, I will be taking-on the most daunting and difficult challenge of my 49 (and a bit) years.

My challange will start in Tanzania at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro - the highest  free-standing mountain in the world.

With a grit, determination and a bit of luck along the way, my challenge should end 5 days later at the summit of Kilimanjaro, some 5,896 metres (19,341 feet) above sea level.

Just to add a bit more interest, I will also attempt to play the bagpipes to a level of at least 15,000 feet, before attempting the final climb to the top.

If you are wondering why I am doing this, the answer is quite simple. Every penny that I raise from you and others who support my challenge, will go to a charity that I have been associated with for the last five years. The Nicholl's Spinal Injury Foundation, through efforts like this, aims  to raise money in support of finding a way of repairing spinal cord injury - something that, even with all of our advances in science, remains beyond our reach.

Over 100,000  rugby players, horseriders and others who through the simplest of accidents, every year find themselves paralysed and unable to walk again. At The Nicholl's Spinal Injury Foundation we are backing research teams who, while making significant progress, are desperately in need of additional funding to make a real difference.

Please, please dig deep so that my climb can give others hope of walking again.
