Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

We are running the Bupa Great North Run 2005 as a BT team to raise money for ChildLine.

ChildLine is the UK's free, 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn.

Over 1,000 volunteers provide a counselling service, supervised by a team of professional supervisors and managers. Every day around 4,000 children call ChildLine, but lack of funds means that only 1,800 of them will get through to their counsellors for comfort, advice and protection.

ChildLine are desperately low on funds and are in danger of having to close their night service - a time when they receive some of their most distressing calls. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: ChildLine will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor us now! Many thanks for your support. Claire, Jo, Martha, Neal, Sharon, Nalini, Steve, Al, Felicity, Caroline and Simon

ChildLine is the UK's free and confidential, 24 hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends' welfare and teenage pregnancy. Children and young people can call ChildLine about anything – no problem is too big or too small. ChildLine is a service provided by the NSPCC
