Story
Welcome to our JustGiving page for Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland!
Hot on the heels of victory in the Edinburgh Marathon Team Relay in May of this year, we've registered for the 2010 Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run. The GSR is a half marathon around Glasgow, taking place on the 5th of September at 10:30am. (Further details to follow)
We've chosen to run in support of Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland in honour of our uncle John, who is currently awaiting a heart transplant. John will be there on the day to cheer us on and may even walk a short distance of the race himself!
Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland is the only stroke charity and is the leading heart charity in Scotland. The charity was first formed over a century ago in the fight against tuberculosis and continues to care for Scotland's health by working to improve the quality of life for people affected by chest, heart and stroke illness.
Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland fund research into all aspects of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and the social impact of chest, heart and stroke illness as well as providing advice, care, and support to people and their families who are affected by these conditions.
For all of us, this is our first serious distance run and as you would expect, training for a half-marathon (13.1 miles) requires a significant amount of effort and determination. Your donation in support of Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland will be a huge source of motivation to us during the months of training that lie ahead.
Many thanks in advance for your donations and keep an eye on our facebook page for training updates!
