We use sport, exercise and activities to aid the rehabilitation of amputees

Story

Dear All

As many of you may know, following an accident whilst out running in Feb 2013, I became a left below-knee amputee in March 2013.  This life-changing injury happened while I was out running training for the London Marathon.  My goal following the last 2 years of recovery and rehab has been to become active and start running again.

Since 2013, I have been getting used to wearing a prosthetic leg, and getting as mobile as I can, and I now hope to try and do some activities in support of the charities who have helped me during my rehab, and support some of the amazing people who I have met along the way who are facing similar challenges to me.

LimbPower and the Arctic One Foundation have both helped me hugely with enabling me to get mobile again, and in helping me and many others to have a positive attitude to what activities and sports they can take part in following a disability.

I want to give something back to both of these charities so I am going to do a couple of challenges which will be physically and mentally testing for me as an amputee.

1) On 4/5 Sep, I am going to climb Scafell Pike in the Lake District which is the highest mountain in England.  I have never walked up this mountain, so this will be a huge challenge for me.

2) On 1 Oct, I am going to do a 10K run in Kent in as quick time as I can.

If you are kindly able to consider sponsoring me for these challenges, this would be wonderful.  LimbPower is one of the very few charities focused on helping people with limb injuries or deficiencies, and Arctic One have helped many disabled people practically work towards taking part in sport and activities again.

Please see their websites for more details if you would find it of interest:

Arctic One Foundation - www.arctic1.co.uk

I'm more than happy to talk to anyone about how these charities have helped me and many others, so please let me know if that would be helpful.

Best
