On the 27th March I am taking part in the British Military Fitness 10km run in aid of Help for Heroes.
This is not your normal 10km run as it is all off-road and some of it is not even on solid ground as we wade through mud and streams and clamber over the numerous obstacles placed in our way by the event organisers...just to make it that little bit more interesting!
Those of you that know me will appreciate that I am not exactly a 'honed athlete' so this kind of thing doesn't really come naturally to me. However, I am setting a goal of under 1 hour to complete the course (my previous time was 1hr 8mins) and to spur me on I am asking for sponsorship in order to raise money for a very worthy charity.
Please give whatever you are able, so that in those muddy times of need when I wonder why on earth I am putting myself through this, I can remember everyone's support.
I have chosen Help for Heroes because I have a number of good friends who are in the forces and have seen first hand what a great job they do, as well as how it affects them when their friends and colleagues are injured or don't make it home.
Many thanks, in advance for your support and here's to a successful run!
Gary
