An awareness raising and charity fundraising event, which will see a team of eight individuals working together to take on the famous ‘Patrouille des Glaciers Route’ (PDG), whilst attempting to ski some of the 4,000m peaks. Considered to be one of the toughest courses in the world, the PDG covers a 57.5km route at altitudes of up to 13,000ft from Zermatt to Verbier in the Swiss Alps. Over the five days the team will face the risk of avalanches, the hazards of glacier crossing, freezing temperatures and altitude sickness.

It will be as much a mental challenge as a physical one.

My inspiration for pulling together this event was my daughter, Harriet. A junior doctor working in ICU during the Covid Pandemic.

The challenge of working in an ICU in normal times is obvious, but March 2020 saw all health professionals commencing on a journey that most had no idea of how it would end and none of us had a notion of how many would lose their lives as a consequence of this deadly disease. There were occasional tears, particularly when her patients lost their fight against Covid. But one of our most outstanding memories are where she marvelled at her colleagues- nurses, medics, AHPs' and their ability to just ‘keep on going’.

Please give generously to now support those who went to work  to care for others during the worst pandemic in living history
