Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At the beginning of September I am running the Dragon’s Back Race.
What’s the Dragons Back Race I hear you say…..
It’s a 300km running race through the hills, mountains and countryside of Wales over just 6 days.. It starts in Conway Castle in the north of Wales and finishes in Cardiff Castle in the south. The race is mostly off road and also requires a degree of navigation, so when I say the race finishes at Cardiff Castle,, that’s where I’m hoping to finish! The race also has around 18km( 11miles) of climbing which is twice the height of Mt Everest. As the race approaches I’m starting to wonder why I ever thought it was a good idea.
What’s Bardet-Beidle Sundrome(BBS) I also hear you say…..
Bardet-Beidl Syndrome (BBS) is an extremely rare genetic condition, which has varying symptoms such as blindness, learning difficulties, development delays, obesity and heart and kidney problems. At the beginning of 2017, our Vet Nurse, Ashley’s little girl, Caitlin was diagnosed with BBS. BBS UK is the only registered charity which supports children and families who are impacted by BBS. There are no cures for this but Professor Phillip Beales from Great Ormond Street Hospital is researching the condition in great depth, and may only be a few years away from finding a cure to prevent the blindness element of the syndrome.
What now…….
Go on, give a little. Just a wee ticky would be appreciated.
