Story
I am extremely proud to have been selected, along with 10 other students to volunteer, together with the charity: Sport in Action, in Zambia this Easter.
Whilst there, we will be volunteering in 3 different schools, one of which is a special needs school. These schools are located in deprived areas of Lusaka, where their are communities where acute poverty, HIV, homelessness, teenage pregnancy, domestic and gender based violence are all a significant problem. Here we will be helping the children develop there cooperation skills, communication skills and mindfulness for others through sports and other activities. In addition to this, we will be promoting female empowerment, as well as raising awareness for HIV/AIDS.
Sport In Action (SIA) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) whose purpose is to improve people’s quality of life through sport and recreational activities. SIA and the Perfect Day foundation have worked together since the founding of SIA, therefore I will be fundraising through this foundation.
The money raised will be used to build sustainable facilities in impoverished areas, develop safe environments for young people, as well as educating and inspiring young people.
From now till Easter I will be doing various fundraising activities in order to raise £1500. Ideally I would like to raise this as quickly as possible.
Please please donate to this cause. I strongly believe that in a position of privilege it is our responsibility to help those who are not as fortunate as we are. It is our duty to help every child obtain their right to education, good health care, equality and an enjoyable childhood and life in general; through your donations this may be achieved .
Thank you so much for taking your time to read this and for any donations made!!
