Story

On Sunday 10th Oct 2010 we carried out our Gibraltar stretcher carry in a bid to raise funds for Help for Heroes & Royal Marines Benevolent Fund.

Our target was to raise £10,000 between our two chosen charities. Not only did we manage to raise over £2,000 more than this, we also beat the previous best time set by serving naval personnel in the only other recorded stretcher carry on the rock. Our fastest team crossed the finish line in 42mins 47secs and our second team crossing just a short time after. This is a fantastic achievment by a bunch of lads ranging from 38-45yrs old.

We thank you all for your support and generousity in making our event a great success by making your donations and providing the encouragement. It is hugely appreciated and goes a long way to helping those in need of our charities.

Special thanks goes to House of Fraser for their generous donation & providing t-shirts for our event, Al Bradford for his support on the rock, GAF for accom, BFBS for advertising and to Adrian & Darren at Marbella Productions for the recording of the event which can be seen on the link below.

About the charity

The RMBF was formed to relieve need, distress or hardship suffered by any person who is serving, has served or is a dependant of a Royal Marine, irrespective of rank. It also provides immediately on the death of either a serving RM or a reservist on duty a sum of money for the next of kin to help them cope with any pressing financial matters.
