Hello, my name is Sophia. 

Ten years ago, my first grade teacher Dale Peterson introduced me to the Mwebaza Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization based in Niwot, Colorado. Today, I would like to ask you for a moment in your hectic day to learn about this results-based organization that promotes cross-cultural exchanges between partner schools in Colorado and Africa. 

Local Colorado schools are each paired with a school in Uganda. The schools here in America work together with their communities to raise funds for the schools in Uganda. In turn, the Ugandan students help teach the students here in Colorado about their culture. This allows young American students to learn about a different culture first hand and to participate in cross cultural exchange. The funds raised are used to build classrooms, provide supplies, and provide care for disadvantaged students through various self-sufficiency initiatives.  

I have been working with this incredible organization since I 2006, when I was in first grade. In the past 13 years I have watched the progress that the organization has made in Africa. I have also watched, and experienced, the impact that the cross cultural exchange has had on the students here in Colorado.
