Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Team "Going Nowhere Fast" are Louise Brown, Suzanne Thoirs, James Baldry and Heather Shaw - a bunch of Peloton spin bike fanatics (those who know, know). We signed up to virtually ride the length of the UK from Lands End to John O'Groats over the next several weeks - then decided we should put our efforts to good use. For context - this is 1083.8 miles. On a bike that goes nowhere.
As most of you know, I am part of a cancer team who are working to continue vital research for cancer patients despite the current viral crisis due to COVID-19. Cancer patients have been hit hard - by isolation due to shielding, deferred treatments and tests, and by the risk to them of the virus itself.
Trying to continue work to improve their situation now and in the future is fraught with difficulty due to the pressure on services from the unrivalled impact of COVID-19. Lots of fundraising this year won't go ahead - marathons are cancelled, bake sales aren't happening and charities are struggling to maintain their funding streams in ever more challenging circumstances - every penny counts and is valued.
The Cancer Treatment and Research Trust (CTRT) plays a key role in raising funds for the world-class cancer research undertaken by the teams at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. CTRT's mission is to enable this vital research and quest for new life-saving cancer treatments.
Louise, Suzanne and James are kind enough to put up with me and ride with me on this epic challenge. We know there are lots of charity requests at the moment - but we would all be grateful for anything you felt able to give.
