On Sunday August 29th I will be leaving John O'Groats on my bike. 15 days later I will arrive at Lands End having cycled the 900 or so miles between the two.

Apart from the company of my friend Richard Proctor this is completely unsupported. There are no rest days, and all our accommodation has been pre-booked, so we must complete every day's planned ride.

We will be carrying all the clothes and equipment we will need for the ride on our bikes.

Until this year I had previously cycled no more than 25 miles in a day. Now I am facing an average of 75 miles every single day for a fortnight, so this is significant personal challenge.

To support and encourage me on this challenging trip I seek your sponsorship. I am raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

As you may know our friends Catherine and Jules' twin children, William and Elizabeth, both suffer from CF. To the outsider they seem like ordinary children but their condition has no cure. Only around half of the CF population can expect to live over 38 years. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust exists to extend and improve the lives of CF sufferers. Their website  http://www.cftrust.org.uk/ has a lot of information about the condition and the work they do.
