In Sierra Leone, 1 in every 11 children dies before reaching their first birthday, and 1 in every 7 does not survive to his or her fifth. The Welbodi vision is a Sierra Leone where all women and children have access to quality and timely essential healthcare services characterised by respect and dignity for all, including patients, communities and staff. Since 2007, they have worked in partnership with hospital management, health facility staff and the Ministry of Health and Sanitation to improve maternal and child health outcomes in the Western Area of Sierra Leone through a range of health system strengthening activities, capacity building and community engagement.
