WE DID IT!!!! THanks everyone for your support
On 23rd July this year, we are hoping to complete one of the UK's hilliest sprint triathlons, in the Peak District. The swim takes place in Hathersage in an open air, heated swimming pool (wetsuits will not be needed!). The pool is 30m long and so will give us plenty of room from a seeded start time to swim 420m before setting off on the bike leg. We will enjoy the poolside fresh air, but will be getting plenty more as the 19.4km bike leg sets off down the Hope Valley towards the quiet villages of Grindleford and Calver, before heading up the stiff climb of Froggatt hill. Once out on the moors at the top, we hope to enjoy stunning scenery before relaxing (mind the bends) back down towards Hathersage and the run transition. The 6km run takes us back up the hill we have just descended on our bikes then off up wooded and moorland tracks, steeply, before running along the ridge to the west of Higgar Tor with beautiful views across to Mam Tor, Stanage Edge and Kinder Scout, before shooting back to down for the finish and hopefully loud applause from the crowd at the finish.
We hope to use the Hathersage Hilly to raise some money for the British Skin Foundation. The British Skin Foundation exists solely for the purpose of supporting research into skin disease. Working closely with patient support groups as well as many of the country's leading dermatology departments, the Foundation aims to help the 7 million people in the UK who suffer with a serious skin condition.
