Story
In June of this year my brother got sick. Lost all his energy, had bruises coming up all over him from nowhere. Weeks passed and it didn’t seem to go away. He had a trial game for a new footy team and the little man still managed to bang in four goals in ten minutes while he was crippled over with, we found out the following week, cancer.
He has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and the next two years are going to change his life. When he comes out of it - as I know he will - his strength and mentality are going to be second to none. He’s been in Alder Hey getting hit head-on with heavy induction treatment and he has responded to every stage so far astonishingly well, carried himself with maturity and strength beyond anything I’ve seen in any kid.
I’m doing a half marathon in Conwy, North Wales to raise a bit of money for a charity called the Joshua Tree and get a bit of positivity going for Jared. The Joshua Tree run a respite/support centre in Cheshire that works with families affected by childhood cancers, offering emotional, academic and practical support, such as counselling, art and play therapy, health and well-being advice, tailored to the individual family’s needs.
Please donate whatever you can, any small amount gives Jared and other kids like him more activities, adventures, tutoring and mental health support to help them get back the spark and momentum to live, during the worst time they will ever experience. Thank you.
