Story
My Mum, Janette McDougall was killed in October 2015 in an RTA with a drunk driver. She was 55.
In April 2029 I was going to run 26.2 miles around London to try and prevent things like this from happening to other families. As it goes Covid-19 had other plans! I got 6 weeks away from the date, lots of training done and lots of lovely donations when the marathon was cancelled :(.
So after a few postponements I am now running in October 2022 and those donations made so far are still included in the total below.
I believe road deaths like Mums are entirely avoidable. Brake is a national charity working to prevent road death and injury and they support those bereaved and injured in road crashes. They fill a massive gap in the system and step into the breach for families once the police have knocked on the door and delivered the worst news imaginable. There are 5 people killed on our roads every day and hundreds more serious injured. Visit www.brake.org.uk to find out more about their life-saving work.
I'm incredibly lucky to get the chance to do this race, and I have been running and training since December 2019 for this. I have, and will still put 150% into it. I also want to use this opportunity to make the most money I possibly can for Brake.
Please donate what you can, and if you can help with fundraising in any way then please contact me!
