Story
I am running 50 miles over February 2021 in memory of my lovely Grandad, Ken Sunderland, and to raise money for research into Mesothelioma and support for those who have it.
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer of the lining of the lungs, and sometimes the abdomen, caused directly by exposure to asbestos. It can lie dormant for 15 to 50 years before attacking the body insidiously and aggressively, and there is currently no cure. Mesothelioma affects a disproportionate amount of people in the North East due to the numbers of people who worked in the ship yards who were exposed to the deadly asbestos.
The money raised will go via my Grandad's Snowdrop Fund to the Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund (MKMRF) which is part of the British Lung Foundation. They fund vital research into new treatments.
I would therefore so appreciate any sponsorship of any amount to raise money for this important cause! Thank you in advance for your support.
