I am running the London Marathon 2015 to raise money for the wonderful charity called 'HospiceUK', this charity gives support to many hospices throughout the UK.

This charity is close to my heart as in 2010 I had to say goodbye to my Mom, who lost her 4 year battle with breast cancer.  She spent her last weeks in one of the hospices that HospiceUK support, and I can not fault the hospice for the amazing care they gave my Mom as well as the support for myself, my sisters and my family at what was such an emotional and difficult time.

I have not always been a runner and I am by no means an elite athlete, in 2012 I was clinically obese and fighting depression.  I started to run, and it transformed my life.  I still miss my Mom every day, but I am able to channel my emotions through my running and give every run to her memory.  It seemed only fitting that I should run to raise money for a charity that helped her so much in her last few weeks of life.

I hope to raise enough money to at least start paying them back for making the worst weeks of my life so much easier.  With the HospiceUK support, hospices around the UK are able to offer additional education and training for their staff, give funding to develop hospice services, both in hospices and for hospice at home services and much more.  For the full run down of what HospiceUK services are, go to www.hospiceuk.org.
