Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Our story starts with our son Archie who was diagnosed with autism in February 2015. At the time we didn’t know what was to come and it’s been hard working through daily life as a family.
We found out about Support dogs and applied for Autism Assistance programme in March 2016, we saw some videos of dogs keeping children from running into the road and automatically we knew that having a trained dog would literally change the world as we knew it. Having to always have one hand on Archie and having to forward think about what he is thinking and what will make him ‘bolt’ is an exhausting job and our brains never get time to relax. We also saw the benefit of Archie having something of his own... a friend who would always look out for him and hopefully give him some independence and stop us from fretting about everyday dangers.
Having been to Support Dogs HQ a few times, and had home visits, we are absolutely dedicated to this charity and the work they do not only for Autism but epilepsy detection dogs and dogs to help with physically disabled people who perhaps need doors opening etc...
Anything you can donate to Support Dogs would mean the world to not only the charity but to us as well, we know they are working so hard to get more dogs in and trained, but each dog costs around £35,000 to be trained and kept up to date with licences in their working life. Support Dogs do not get any government funding, so every penny they get is used In their quest to help more people.
Thank you for reading and we as a family really appreciate your support.
