Story

Hi all owing to an annoying injury 4 weeks before the big day in 2018 I will be running the London marathon in 2019 instead. I'm hoping this will give me the opportunity to raise even more money for this amazing charity (and trying to forget that I have to do all the training again as well as return to running after a 2-3 month break!). Thank you all so much for your support :)

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the 2018 London marathon in memory of a dear family friend, Lynda who lost her battle with cancer 10 years ago and the Helen Rollason cancer charity for whom Lynda fundraised and was involved with during her illness. This marathon will be a personal challenge, an opportunity to remember Lynda and a chance to give something back to a charity which supports individuals who, like Lyn have been faced with this awful disease.

Lynda battled cancer twice, beating it once for it later to return with a incurable prognosis. Despite this Lynda continued to be the positive and inspirational person that she had always been. Despite how sick she was or how ill she felt she always made the best of it, for example she entered various TV shows such as The Weakest Link and Ready Steady Cook because she could and for charity. It was during this time that Lynda became involved with the Helen Rollason charity, which at the time was fundraising for a research centre and providing holistic treatments.

Sadly in July 2008 Lynda lost her battle with cancer, she was such a courageous woman who never lost her spark and love of life. Even nearly 10 years on it is impossible to forget that laugh and sense of humour of hers. I would like to give something back to such a incredible and valuable charity and raise money to help other people like Lynda to get the much needed help and support that can make all of the difference when going through such a difficult time. My little girls sadly never got to meet Lynda but I know they would have loved her just as they love her daughter Kerry and hopefully by seeing their mum run the marathon it will be a way of keeping her memory alive for them and show them how much Lynda meant to all of us. If she could be there she would be with the loudest cheer!

Thank you again for taking the time to look at my page.
