Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Please sponsor me to climb my 5th summit, Carstensz Pyramid in Papua New Guinea, this coming year.
All funds raised on this occasion go to the Udayan school which is a home for children of lepers on the outskirts of Kolkata, India.
This project is close to my heart because of my past experiences volunteer working in Kolkata in the '80s. (You can read more about this on Page 21 and 22 in the 'Dawn Ruby Edition' on www.friendsofudayan.co.uk).
A child born into a leper colony in Kolkata faces starvation, disease, poverty and ostracisation. Leprosy, if caught early is completely curable, yet the only means of survival for such children is often crime or prostitution. Udayan provides 350 children from as young as three with a home, medical treatment, an education and vocational training so that they can become independent and eventually support their own families - and all this for less than £200 a year per child. Your gift really can make a difference and every single penny of it will go to the children.
100% of your donation reaches the charity. All administration costs relating to your donation - including the JustGiving fee - are covered personally.
