Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been battling bowel cancer since 2016 and am currently in remission. My recovery/recoveries were possible because of the excellent care I received at the Royal Marsden Hospital and aided by my commitment to walking back to health.
They say don't run before you can walk, now its time to run! I have wanted to take part in The London Marathon for 20 years and now is my once in a lifetime opportunity. I am determined to get round the 26.2 mile course, running , walking whatever it takes and then I can say I have done it.
I am running with a purple vest (of course!) on behalf of Caudwell Children so that children who haven't had the easiest of starts can get the most out of their lives and achieve their dreams. I have been lucky enough to achieve some of mine... With your support I hope I can make this dream come true.
Since the 2020 London Marathon was cancelled I am now running the virtual event on Sunday October 4th, and have renamed it HOVID 26.2 (Heather's Once in a lifetime Virtual Isolated marathon Day)
My route takes me from my frontdoor and back again many hours later! Family and friends will be providing practical and emotional support and some will even accompany me on sections of the route, hopefully I will be able to keep up with them.
Thank you for all your support through my never ender training and for gifting so generously to Caudwell Children who need our donations now more than ever.
