Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My mum was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis in May 2009. I vividly remember making a surprise visit from overseas. Nothing prepared me for seeing her slumped in a chair barely able to view me though one eye that was half closed. Her main symptoms were drooping eyes, restriction of the throat & neck muscles and nerves not coordinating as well as chronic fatigue.
Her journey through diagnosis lead to the discovery of a tumor on her thymus which was removed in September 2009, followed by radiotherapy in early 2010. Since then she has had one episode in 2013. She has been lucky in comparison to others. Her support of Myaware since 2009 and the need for funds to help with further research to alleviate other patients’ symptoms is my reason for wishing to run the London marathon for this charity.
